On 26 June, the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Olha Kuryshko, joined the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag — Qırımtatar Bayraq Künü — celebrated in the garden of Kyiv’s Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio.
In her welcome remarks, Olha Kuryshko congratulated the Crimean Tatar community and underscored the national flag’s meaning as a symbol of resilience, unity, freedom, and the unbreakable bond with Crimea. “For me, the Crimean Tatar flag stands for freedom, dignity, and identity,” she said.
The Permanent Representative expressed gratitude to the event organizers for their initiative and contribution to preserving national memory. She also extended heartfelt thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their courage and protection, which makes it possible to celebrate such events even in times of war.
The Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag celebration brought together a large gathering of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians. The event featured musical and dance performances, a charity auction, and a raffle in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was organized by the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, the Qadın Divanı initiative, the state enterprise Crimean House, Q-HUB, with the support of the National Welfare Fund of Crimea, Crimean Front, Shum, CrimeaVox, Suspilne Crimea, Qırım Media, and the Musafir restaurant.
The Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag serves not only as a reminder of a long history of struggle, but also as a reaffirmation of the unity and resilience of the entire Ukrainian people in their shared aspiration for freedom and the return of Crimea.
