Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva held a working meeting with representatives of the Italian party Radicali and Italian journalists.
The delegation was represented by the party treasurer Giulia Crivellini, party secretary Silvia Manzi, party members Stefano Polli, Chiara Calore, and journalist of “Milano Today” Massimiliano Melei.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Permanent Representative Denys Chystikov and Head of the Crimean Platform Support Service Maria Tomak.
The Radicali party is known for its support of Ukraine, and has been involved in the processes that led to the birth of international tribunals and then to the creation of the International Criminal Court. “Radicali was involved in the investigation of the unjust conviction of Vitaliy Markiv in Italy.
The Permanent Representative thanked the Italian guests for their systematic support of Ukraine, which they have demonstrated over the years in a wide range of issues – from the demands to the Italian Parliament to recognize the Holodomor as genocide to the constant actions in support of Ukraine after the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Tamila Tasheva also noted the importance of the symbolism of the visit on the eve of April 25, when Italy celebrates Freedom Day. By the way, today the Italian delegation is holding a press conference in Kyiv on this occasion: https://cutt.ly/w5zNhIC.
“April 25 is a special day for Italy, it is called the Liberation Day or the anniversary of the Resistance. On this day we celebrate the liberation of the state from Nazism and fascist dictatorship. We decided to celebrate this day in Ukraine, because we understand the importance of Ukraine’s struggle and victory in the war against Russia for Europe and our country,” said Giulia Crivellini.
Tamila Tasheva told the guests about the current work of the Mission on the development of future reintegration processes, about the resistance to the occupation on the Crimean peninsula and about political persecution by the occupation administrations. The Permanent Representative also recalled the cultural and historical aspects that have linked Italy and the Crimean peninsula for centuries.
The Italian delegation demonstrated a high level of awareness of the situation in the occupied Crimea. Giulia Crivellini noted that they pay a lot of attention to the fight against Russian disinformation in Italy and understand the importance of this. The participants of the meeting agreed on further cooperation, in particular in the fight against Russian disinformation.
