Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva met with representatives of the Senate of the Czech Republic. The meeting was also joined by Deputy Permanent Representative Denys Chystikov.
The Permanent Representative told the parliamentarians about the main violations on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula after the beginning of the full-scale invasion, in particular about the forced mobilization of Crimean Tatars, intensification of politically motivated persecution of Ukrainian citizens, as well as about the deliberate transfer of Russian citizens to the territory of the occupied Crimea with the aim of Russification of the peninsula.
A separate part of the meeting was devoted to discussing the consequences for Ukraine of the Russian act of ecocide – the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP. Pavel Fischer, Chairman of the Czech Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security, noted that the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant is a heinous crime for which Russia must be brought to justice.
Tamila Tasheva noted that the consequences of this tragedy will be significant for the occupied Crimea: the termination of water supply to the peninsula through the North Crimean Canal will significantly affect the development of the region after de-occupation.
The meeting also discussed the importance of holding the Second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform to be held in Prague.
