Almost 100 years ago, on the 29th day of January, 1918, there was a legendary battle under Krut, which was a real symbol of courage and resoluteness, bravery and indocility of the Ukrainians’ spirit in the struggle for their own state, its formation, autonomy and independency.

The attack of the enemy on Kyiv lasted long four days, which brought an opportunity to the government of the Ukrainian People’s Republic at negotiations in Brest to get international recognition of Ukraine as an independent and equitable state for the first time more than 150 years.

Despite of small number of Kruty people, a strong wall of devotion and heroism appeared on the way of the Russian and Bolshevik horde.

Today Ukraine’s defenders demonstrate heredity of the Ukrainian military traditions and victory, reflect a heroic past of the Ukrainian people and impress with their patriotism, dedication and experience even military servants of the foreign countries.

Day of Kruty Heroes is a commemoration of glorious sons of the Ukrainian people and significant events of the Ukrainian Revolution in 1917-1921.
