On the 18th day of May, on the day of honouring memory of victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar People, organized by Stalin’s regime, we recall the victims and express our sorrow and gratitude to living witnesses of the tragic events that told the world the truth about the crime committed in 1944.
In several days, the whole nation was forcibly moved from its native land for thousands of miles and settled in conditions incompatible with life.
Thanks to incredible fortitude, Crimean Tatars managed to resist the deliberate destruction in exile: they were fighting for the rights, freedom and justice; were cherishing traditions, language and culture, were dreaming of coming back.
The realities of today show that the Crimean Tatars again have fallen victims to totalitarian phenomena on their native land. The occupation regime in Crimea does not stop even for a while to prosecute the pro-Ukrainian inhabitants of Crimea.
