On 28 November 2018 the Head of the Mission of International Connections of the Mission Yevhen Samukha took part in the round table discussion “Intervention of Russia in the Black and Azov Seas: How to Prevent the Russian Naval Aggression against Ukraine”, held by the Institute of Foreign Studies.
Among the speakers of the round table were Volodymyr Ogryzko, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2007-2009, Leonid Osavoluk, Director of the Department, Ambassador-at-Large of the MFA of Ukraine in 2008-2017, Sergiy Gaiduk, Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014-2016, Volodymyr Vasylenko, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Andrew Klymenko, the Head of the Fund Supervisory Board “Maidan of Foreign Affairs”, expert on Crimean issues, the editor-in-chief of “Вlackseanews” site, Grygoriy Perepelytsya, Director of the Institute of Foreign Policy of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine. The event was also attended by the representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine.
During the professional debates on political-diplomatic and military-political aspects of the above-mentioned theme, the round table participants raised the issue of validity of the international legal instruments, providing maritime security of Ukraine in the Black and Azov Seas. The necessary steps of our state and its international partners were discussed to counteract the Russian aggression by criticizing the insufficient work of certain authorities on defending the national interests of Ukraine against the hostile actions of the Russia.
