On 31 October 2018 the Head of the Department of International Connections of the Mission Yevhen Samukha participated in the meeting of Pen Ukraine discussion “Tools of Mass Misinformation. How Does Modern Media Work“. Among the experts, invited to the discussion were Vitaliii Portnikov, publicists and reviewer of the “Radio Liberty”, newsreader of “Espresso” TV channel, Pavlo Kazarin, publicists and reviewer of the “Radio Liberty, newsreader of “ICTV” channel, Natalia Ligachyova, the chief editor of the portal “Detector Media” and others.

Taking the examples of so-called information operations of RF “Crimean Spring 2018” and today’s Russian propaganda on situation in the occupied peninsula, the participants of the discussion searched for answers to a number of questions: how  the rules of information warfare have been changed during  the last decades: how the “betrayal” accelerates and “victory” minimized, why we honor populists; is there an antidote to propaganda and manipulations, where to draw the line between the journalistic and propaganda; what kind of responsibility could be for fakes and manipulations; could the media war be won without resort to methods of the enemy.
