“Today, on August 9, the World celebrates the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. For Ukraine, this date is a reminder of the fate of the Crimean Tatars, who now live in conditions of Russian occupation, and are experiencing harassment and bullying”, pointed President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. He emphasized that Ukraine continues its struggle for deoccupation of Crimea, as well for the rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatar People.

“Diplomats were instructed to prepare for the forthcoming session of the UN General Assembly a new resolution on Crimea to stop any speculation about Crimea’s status. The General Assembly has repeatedly supported the position of Ukraine, in particular regarding the violation of the Crimean Tatars’ Rights. Therefore, the position of the Civilized World remains unchanged: “Crimea is Ukraine!” We are doing our utmost to bring closer the time when the Indigenous People – Crimean Tatars – will continue to observe unique traditions of their ancestors in free Ukrainian Crimea”, the President of Ukraine pointed.
