A civilian journalist with a group III disability, Timur Ibragimov, who was illegally sentenced to 17 years in prison, has been diagnosed with a serious illness – gallstone disease. The day before yesterday, he received such conclusions after an examination in a Russian hospital, for which he had been waiting for six months. All this time, the activist suffered from pain under his rib, which the occupiers openly ignored.
His wife, Dilyara Ibragimova, said that even after the ultrasound and the diagnosis of the disease, Russian doctors did not provide any recommendations and even refused to take additional tests, arguing that the political prisoner had not allegedly indicated this need in his application six months ago.
There are no hot meals, balanced food and vitamins in the colony. Because of this, gallstone disease can be significantly complicated.
“In addition, Timur’s implant that replaces his eye is constantly tearing. The other eye, which was functioning well, now sees worse. His vision is constantly falling, and he has constant dryness. There is an urgent need to replace the implant, which is almost impossible in such harsh prison conditions,” the wife of the political prisoner added.
The occupiers continue to torture other Ukrainian political prisoners who have serious health problems. Servet Gaziyev complains of constant pain in the intestines, as well as problems with his spine. Amet Suleymanov, who suffered from arterial and mitral heart failure before his imprisonment, is getting worse. And Russian doctors still refuse to tell Emir Usein-Kuku on which part of his organ they performed medical intervention during the operation on his intestines. The health condition of civilian journalist and doctor Irina Danilovich is also deteriorating. The activist is already hard of hearing and may lose her hearing, which will lead to disability in the future. Despite all the requests to provide her with qualified medical care, the occupation doctors continue to falsely claim that she is healthy.
In total, more than 30 illegally convicted activists have significant health problems. Illegal detention and total neglect of their health threatens not only the deterioration of the political prisoners’ condition, but also their lives.
We call on the international community to respond to yet another unprecedented injustice and increase pressure on the Russian Federation, which openly ignores all international humanitarian law.
