On 16 July 2019 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych met with the Prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Hiunduz Mamedov.
The officials discussed the issues of the mutual partnership and appropriate response to violation of human rights in the TOT of the AR of Crimea, particularly to the crimes committed by the occupying authorities including military crimes and crimes against humanity. The development of draft laws and Presidential human rights instruments was also considered.
Anton Korynevych enquired about the reaction of the Crimean law enforcement bodies to the total human rights violations in the temporarily occupied territory of the AR of Crimea and Sevastopol city and possible ways of interaction to restore the violated rights and prosecute the perpetrators.
A great range of issues the interlocutors had a unified view include cooperation with the International Criminal Court in the context of the declarations on acceptance by Ukraine its jurisdiction; amendments to the Penal Code of Ukraine over appropriate criminalization of international crimes; the importance of ratifying of the Rome statute of the international Criminal Court; improvement of sanctions measures; legal human rights instruments for IDPs and residents of the temporarily occupied territory.
