The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol announced the sentencing in absentia of two Crimean judges who defected to the occupier. They were found guilty of treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced to 12 and 13 years in prison.
The prosecutors of the autonomy proved that in 2014 the convicts betrayed their oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people. Under the occupation administrations, they took up the positions of the so-called head of the Kirovsky District Court and a judge of the illegally established Yalta City Court.
By their actions and decisions, they contributed to the establishment and strengthening of the occupation courts on the peninsula, as well as assisted representatives of a foreign state in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine.
