The First Winter School Crimean Studies will commence at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) on January 27. This educational and research initiative will run until February 1, 2024.
The event is organized by the Center for Crimean Studies at NaUKMA, Crimean Public Media CEMAAT, and the Kyiv-Mohyla Analytical Platform. The development and preparation of the school’s activities and certification program received support from the United Kingdom in Ukraine and a close partnership with the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The curriculum of the First Winter School includes lectures by leading experts highlighting key aspects of the history, culture, law, and contemporary challenges related to Crimea. The Center for Crimean Studies at NaUKMA has developed a multidisciplinary certification program comprising six courses:
- History of Crimea — Tetiana Hryhorieva, Martin-Oleksandr Kyslyi.
- Crimean Tatar Literature and Culture — Aishe Arnautova.
- Crimean Tatar Language — Afize Emiramzaieva.
- Crimea in the Context of International Law — Serhii Petukhov.
- Reintegration of Crimea: Economy and Environment — Yevhen Khlobystov.
- Social and Political Processes in Crimea — Arsen Zhumadilov, Yevheniia Horiunova.
The Center for Crimean Studies’ presentation will also include a lecture by the British Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr. Martin Harris.
The Winter School is designed for individuals eager to deepen their knowledge about Crimea. Registration requires completing an application form by January 19.
The Center for Crimean Studies was established at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy as a multidisciplinary platform for studying, researching, and preserving Crimea’s cultural, social, and political heritage. The Center unites educational and research initiatives focusing on contemporary challenges of the de-occupation and reintegration of the peninsula.
