On 21 July, as part of a working meeting, Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko met with Oleksandr Alforov, Head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, to discuss further steps for cooperation. The meeting was also joined by Liudmyla Shevchuk, Deputy Head of the Department for De-occupation and Reintegration.

Olha Kuryshko spoke about the Mission’s work in the field of preserving and promoting cultural heritage, particularly to decolonial approaches to the toponymy of the Crimean Peninsula.
The Permanent Representative emphasized the importance of memorialization efforts, noting that the Mission has been systematically engaged in this area since 2014 and has submitted proposals on preserving and honoring the memory of participants, victims, and events of the Russian-Ukrainian War.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Olha Kuryshko shared the Mission’s plans for advancing state policy in the area of preserving historical memory related to resistance to occupation and the consequences of Russian aggression.
