On June 2, the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea held a meeting with Italian journalist and politician Gianni Vernetti, attended by Deputy Permanent Representative Denys Chystikov. The discussion also involved Deputy Head of the Crimea Platform Department Anna Sytnikova and Chief Consultant of the Department Tetiana Nepomiascha.
The conversation focused on key aspects of the situation in the temporarily occupied peninsula, including Ukrainian citizens’ resistance, Russia’s artificial demographic policy and imperial reshaping of the population, the ongoing militarization of Crimea, and the persecution of representatives of indigenous peoples, first and foremost, the Crimean Tatars. The parties also discussed Ukraine’s envisioned steps following de-occupation, emphasizing the importance of sustained international support.
During the meeting, all sides reiterated that maintaining international attention on Crimea and solidarity with Ukraine remains crucial amid the ongoing armed aggression by the Russian Federation.
