On 09 January 2020 a working meeting, initiated by the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea brought together the leaders of the Crimean Tartar People, members of Mejlis, Kurultai delegates and representatives of civic organizations.
At the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the results of the Mission’s activity in 2019 and emphasized the priorities for 2020 including strategic communication and collaboration with Mejlis of Crimean Tartar People.
The Permanent Representative of President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea Anton Korynevych noted that work was ongoing to amend the legal acts, discriminating against the IDPs and the residents of the occupied Crimea, including a draft law on social and legal protection of persons, deprived of their liberty caused by the armed aggression against Ukraine and conception of transitional justice.
During the meeting, the participants agreed a mutual collaboration on issues regarding the status of Indigenous People of Ukraine, protection and restoration of the Crimean Tartar People’s rights including its right to self-determination within Ukraine.
The sides also determined support, including by the state of the informational, educational and cultural projects on Crimea as one of the areas for future cooperation.
In addition, they discussed the issue of liberation of Ukrainian political prisoners, detained in the temporarily occupied Crimea and the Russian Federation and providing support for their families.
The meeting was attended by the leader of Crimean Tartar People, the People’s Deputy Mustafa Dzhemiluov, the Chairman of Mejlis of Crimean Tartar People Refat Chubarov and the Deputies Chairman: the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Ahtem Cheigoz and Ilmi Umerov.
