Today is a historic day. It is the day of adoption of the document that set out the strategic guidelines of our country, where democratic reforms, ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens and free choice of political future are in place. The Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine has become a testament to our commitment to dynamic change and the basis for the institutionalization of Ukraine as an independent sovereign democratic state.

The Declaration tells us about values. It was in this defining document that we declared the formation of a modern political nation of the European model in independent Ukraine. Today we are confidently demonstrating our choice. The choice to develop a state where human values are a priority and the fundamental principles of law are respected.

The Declaration tells us to act. To take risks, not to compromise, to fight for our country and overcome challenges – all in order to develop, build a successful country and remain resilient in times of crisis.

The Declaration tells us about experience. Experience and lessons that we must take into account and rethink in today’s context.

Let us appreciate and cherish this day with historical power, when Ukrainians took another step towards their self-determination, self-awareness and free independent Ukraine.
