On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Crimean Tatar Genocide, the Mission addressed the Kyiv City and all regional military administrations with an initiative to hold events aimed at commemorating the victims of the deportation of Crimean Tatars. In particular, it was about lowering the State Flag of Ukraine on May 18 on administrative buildings, informing about the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people on the resources of the administrations, as well as other activities in accordance with the available opportunities.
The Mission also appealed to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to hold events in educational institutions to mark the 79th anniversary of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
We express our gratitude to all those who responded to our call and carried out important work to commemorate the memory!
So far, more than 13 regional and Kyiv city military administrations and a number of local governments have reported on the results of the events – more than 250 events with coverage of hundreds of thousands of citizens.
The events included informational historical hours, online exhibitions, screenings of films about the deportation of Crimean Tatars, prayer services, posters, round tables, book exhibitions, memory lessons, scientific and practical conferences, and other educational initiatives.
We would like to thank the Ministry of Education and Science, representatives of military administrations, educational institutions, local governments and all those who responded for their concern for the tragedy of the Crimean Tatar people, the indigenous people of Ukraine.
