The health condition of Iryna Danylovych, a Ukrainian civilian journalist and nurse illegally convicted by the Russian occupiers, continues to deteriorate.
During her illegal imprisonment, Iryna began to have hearing problems (now she cannot hear completely in her left ear), suffered at least one microstroke, and had constant dizziness. Thanks to the efforts of her family, lawyers, and human rights activists, Iryna was provided with minimal treatment but has not yet been able to undergo a complete medical examination. As of now, the medications Iryna receives do not help with the constant pain but only slightly slow down the negative processes and alleviate some symptoms.
Iryna Danylovych needs urgent, highly qualified treatment, without which she may not survive.
In addition, Iryna is in a depressed condition due to severe health problems and the recent death of her father.
The Mission calls for the immediate release of the critically ill Iryna Danylovych, who was abducted and illegally imprisoned by the Russian occupiers in 2022. The appalling conditions of detention of Ukrainian political prisoners in Russian prisons are yet another tool of pressure by the aggressor country, threatening the lives and health of Ukrainian citizens.
We call on the international community to respond to the criminal actions of the Russian Federation and increase pressure on the aggressor state, which blatantly ignores all norms of international humanitarian law. We call on using all available tools to secure the release of Iryna Danylovych.
