Today, on May 8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Resolution on the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to foreign governments and parliaments, international organizations, and assemblies on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944. The Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea participated in drafting the document.

This Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appeals to the governments and parliaments of foreign states, international organizations, and assemblies to:
- Recognize the deportation of Crimean Tatars from Crimea in 1944 as an act of genocide of the Crimean Tatar people,
- Support the restoration of Ukraine’s state sovereignty over the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation,
- Support the establishment of the Special International Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,
- Actively participate in the realization of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine.
The resolution also urges foreign states and international organizations to actively participate in the events of the International Crimea Platform at the governmental and parliamentary levels. Today in the morning the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Tamila Tasheva delivered a speech during the document processing at the session of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Interparliamentary Cooperation. This Resolution is an important step toward restoring historical justice and recognizing the deportation perpetrated by the Soviet totalitarian regime as a crime.
