The operation lasted several months and involved the mining of the bridge’s underwater supports. At 4:44 a.m. today, the first explosive device was activated. The explosive charge had a power equivalent to 1,100 kg of TNT. According to preliminary assessments, the Crimean Bridge is now in an emergency condition.
The Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk, personally coordinated the planning and execution of the operation.
“All good things come in threes, and the SSU always brings its plans to completion and never repeats itself. Previously, we struck the Crimean Bridge twice—in 2022 and 2023. So today, we continued this tradition underwater. There is no place for any illegal objects of the Russian Federation on the territory of our state. Therefore, the Crimean Bridge is an entirely legitimate target, especially considering that the enemy used it as a transportation artery to supply its troops. Crimea is Ukraine, and any manifestation of occupation will be met with our firm response,” stated Vasyl Maliuk.
The Crimean Bridge remains a symbol of Russian occupation and military presence on the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Its systematic targeting is part of Ukraine’s strategy to restore territorial integrity and ensure national security.
Crimea is Ukraine. Any illegal objects on the temporarily occupied territory have no right to exist and will be destroyed.
