On January 22^nd, 2018, the Mission of the President of Ukraine took part in the commemoration of a fateful event in the history of Ukrainian statehood occurred at the beginning of the 20^th century, the Day of Unity of Ukraine. Traditionally the floral tributes were laid on a memorial places and a prayer service for Ukraine was conducted.

On this day, in 1919, at Sofia Square in Kyiv, the Ukrainians proclaimed the unification of the parts of the united Ukraine that had been separated from each other for centuries. On December 1^st, 1918, a pre-accession agreement was concluded between the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic in the town of Fastiv.

A deep understanding of historical experience and digestion of the past today will help the Ukrainian people to continue to build a strong, democratic, sovereign and independent European Ukrainian state and to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
