On 2 October 2018 the Permanent Representative of President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin and the officials of the Departments of International Connections Yevgen Samukha and Valeria Pakhomova met with the head of UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Fiona Fraser and the representatives of the Mission.The UN representatives expressed their thanks for the information on statistics, dynamics and violations of Human Rights by the occupying authorities, provided by the Mission regularly and noted its importance for the UN Reports.
During the meeting, the efforts of the Mission of the President of Ukraine in ARC on coordination in providing support to the families of Crimean political detainees and other citizens of Ukraine, coming from Crimea were noted. In particular the opening of Administrative Service Centers in the districts, neighboring Crimea, pointing out the achievements and prospects of the Mission in such directions were emphasized.
Borys Babin informed about the current legislative activity of Mission, noting the development of drafts Law for simplifying court procedures: on recording of deaths in the occupied Crimea; on provision of free secondary legal assistance to the residents of the peninsula; on access of the Crimean residents to justice etc. The draft law № 8400 for simplifying the marriage recording for the residents of the occupied territories, supported by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Family Matters, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism was discussed.
The aspects of protection of Ukrainian fishers` and seafarers` rights under the escalating of Russian aggression in the seas around peninsula were highlighted in the context of cooperation with the Human Rights Commissioner and advocates. Following the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects of joint events to be held in order to improve the implementation of the recommendations of UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission by the Government of Ukraine, agreed the mutual exchange of information for better implementations of the mandates.
