On the 8th day of November Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Mr. Borys Babin held a working meeting with a Special Advisor to Council of Europe’s Secretary General for Ukraine (SASG) Mr. Regis Brillat in the city of Kyiv. The parties discussed urgent and strategical ways of cooperation on issues related to the defense of rights of internally displaced persons from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and population of peninsula.
Mr. Babin drew the SASG’s attention to the priority of issue of passportization of Crimeans as a key element of realization of their cultural, labour and social rights. The Special Advisor acquainted himself with a plan of the first priority steps in organization of provision of administrative and transport services for Crimeans in Kherson region proposed by the Representative Office. The Special Representative showed a specific interest in Ukraine’s joining the treaty social standards of the International Labour Organization and Council of Europe, that, apart from everything else, would assist to enjoyment of rights of the Ukrainian citizens. The Permanent Representative informed of the Special Advisor about major violations of the international standards of human rights, rights of indigenous peoples and humanitarian law in Crimea by the aggressor country.
