On 27 December 2018 in the Crimean House, the leader of the Crimean Tatar People, the People’s Deputy of Verkhovna Rada Mustafa Dzhemilev was interviewed on the events in the temporarily occupied peninsula and regarding Crimea significantly over the past year.
Mustafa Dzhemilev assessed the actions of the Russian occupying authorities towards the militarization of the peninsula territory and persecution of the Crimean Tatar population, in demographic and ecological dimensions of Crimea significantly. Due regard was given to the governmental bodies and law enforcement institutions authorized to provide their activity in respect of the TOT of AR of Crimea and efficiency of support and assistance to Ukraine on Crimean issues, rendering by foreign countries and international organizations. He also identified the targets for further de-occupation of Crimea in the context of coming Presidential and Parliamentary elections and frequent changes of the international climate.
Mustafa Dzhemilyov also noted the completion of the working group activity on the development of the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the national autonomy in the territory of Crimea. He expected the following amendments would be adopted by the Constitutional Commission and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on first reading soon to submit them to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
