On International Mother Language Day, 21 February, the eighth online dictation in the Crimean Tatar language will be held in Ukraine.

The dictation is organised by the “Nefes” (Breath) public initiative, which noted that over its eight years of existence, the project has become a tradition for many participants and has received significant support. This year, the text of the dictation will be read by the Crimean Tatar poetess, translator, and editor Maiie Abdulhaniieva.

The broadcast will begin on 21 February at 19:00 Kyiv time and will be available on the YouTube and Facebook pages of the “Nefes” public organisation.

After the broadcast, participants will have three hours — until 23:00 — to send a photo or scan of their handwritten text to the initiative’s email address: [email protected].

The text of the dictation will be published on 22 February on the project’s social media pages. Those who write the dictation without errors will receive incentive prizes. The results of the online dictation will be announced on 21 March 2026
