In August 9, 2018 Society and Art Forum “ Three peoples – one root” was held in Melitopol Intercultural Museum “Kale” under the support of the Mission of the President of Ukraine in ARC, of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People, regional and local mejlises, of the Zaporizhya State Regional Administration, of the Melitopol Local Council, of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, of the Melitopol Committtee of Facilitation the Resumption ot the Crimean Tatars to the Historic Nativeland “Azat” and of Melitopol National and Cultural Karaim Society “Djamaat”.
Boris Babin emphasized the importance of the international standards of the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights to be included into the national legislation of Ukraine. He stressed on the violations of Indigenous Peoples’ Rights by the state-aggressor under the temporarily occupation of Crimea, as the historic Motherland of these Peoples.
The members of the forum highlighted the legal instruments related to the pressed issues and the prospects for exercising of the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights in Ukraine. It was determined the challenges of the inter-ethnic relationship between the authorities and non-governmental institutions. The book by Sophia Yalpachyk on learning Karaimian Language was presented there. The forum ended by the concert with performances of Crimean Tatars’ and Caraim Peoples folklore groups.
