On March 14, 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC together with the representative of the Department of International Communications of the Mission met with the Head and the representatives of UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine within the framework of working meeting.
A great range of urgent humanitarian issues related to the temporarily occupation of Crimea and Russia Federation aggression was discussed. Borys Babin informed about the current activity of the Mission in resolving humanitarian, educational and safety issues, in particular the administrative services of certification of Ukrainian citizens living in Crimea or citizens serving sentences in the mainland of Ukraine.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission representatives thanked the Permanent Representative for the given information about statistics, dynamics and character of violations of Human Rights by the occupier authorities, about appeals of Crimean inhabitants to the state governmental bodies of Ukraine. The sides discussed the efforts of the Mission on coordination the Administrative Services Centers activity on certification the citizens of Ukraine from Crimea; coherent services for citizens, released from the prisons and establishment the network of similar centers in the districts situated close to Crimea, also the issues of railway link to the station Vadim and legal bus traffic connection to the check points was discussed. Particular attention was paid to the Rights of Indigenous people of Ukraine in Crimea and on the violations of their collective rights by the aggressor state.
So-called “elections” in the occupied Crimea and their risks for basic Human Rights in the occupied territory, also as the gross violations by the occupying authorities were emphasized. Particularly Borys Babin stated that individuals participated voluntarily in arrangements of so-called elections would be prosecuted. It was pointed out that occupation policy influenced badly on the education, culture, language and religion creating the preconditions for their total prohibition and lack of any development.
The sides agreed the format of periodic information sent by the Mission about Human Rights issues of IDPs from Crimea and of the population of Crimea in the mainland of Ukraine, also as about violations of Human Rights by occupying authorities of Russia Federation.
