On 12-14 October the officials of Kyiv Office of the Mission took part in the working meeting – training, held by the Crimean Resource Center and Estonian Human Rights Institute on theme: “Initiation of international advocacy and movement of solidarity with the Crimean Tatar People #LIBERATECRIMEA”.
The seminar was attended by the chairman of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center and the member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Eskander Bariev, Director of the Estonian Institute of Human Rights Aet Kukk, the expert of the Estonian Institute of Human Rights Oliver Loode, Political Director of MFA of Ukraine Oleksii Makeiev, the producer and journalist Galyna Dghikaeva, the Director of Association of Ukrainians in Republic of Ireland Mykola Krutsyk, artist and cartoonist Andriy Yarmolenko
The first day featured a panel discussion “State and Prospects of Engagement between the State Institutes and Non-Governmental Sector on Crimean issues” during which Yevhen Samukha highlighted the framework of cooperation between the Mission and civil society associations and activists. He pointed out the initiatives of the Mission of the President of Ukraine in ARC on monitoring of the non-governmental sector to be funded by the State budget through the open tender. In addition, he responded to the questions raised by the members and experts of the project, regarding to the history of the establishment of the Mission, its aims and current activity. The attention was drawn to the main rules of the Plan of Urgent Actions on Counteraction of Russia’s Aggression from the Temporarily Occupied Territory of Ukraine in Crimea, protection of the interests of State, Citizens of Ukraine and Ukrainian Legal Persons in Crimea for the period of 2018 – 2019 and the its current implementation.
In the framework of the meeting, the participants learned about the aims and purposes of the International Movement #LIBERATECRIMEA, discussed the concept of strategy and the plan of action for the further development of international movement on de-occupation solidarity of Crimea. The participants also had the opportunity to get answers to the matters of their concern, discuss the current challenges and solutions and to work in groups to create the ideas for performances and public events within the International Movement. As the result of the meeting – training, the sides agreed the detailed arrangements for implementation of International Movement #LIBERATECRIMEA.
#LIBERATECRIMEA is a new international public company to support the liberation of Crimea and restoration of territorial integrity of Ukraine, aimed at strengthening of the voice of civil society and it calls for an end of illegal occupation of Crimea, flagrant violations of International Law and the root causes the numerous Human Rights violations beginning from February of 2014.
