In July 23, 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin held a meeting on development the ways of further interaction on collection the evidence base on the complaints of Ukraine, submitted to the International Criminal Court (the ICC)
. The participants of the meeting were the officials of the Departments of Legal Analysis and of International Connections of the Mission, the representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, of the National Police of Ukraine, of the Main Directorate of the National Police in ARC and Sevastopol, of the Security Service of Ukraine and of the Main Directorate of SSU in ARC, of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine and others.
During the meeting the legislative and organizational sides to simplify the implementation of preparatory events for proceedings in the International Criminal Court were discussed as well as the position of the civil human rights defenders, advocates and individual claimants in the prospects of proceedings in the ICC by the complaints of Ukraine.
The possibility of including the algorithm of interstructural interaction into the Memorandum of the authorized governmental bodies was discussed. The particular attention was paid to interaction with some international organizations and institutions under the prospects of proceedings in the ICC by the complaints of Ukraine. Borys Babin pointed out that is clearly not all the war crimes and the crimes against humanity, committed under the temporarily occupation of Crimea were documented by the Prosecutor’s Office of the ICC.
Therefore, it is important to investigate efficiently the war crimes and the crimes against humanity by the authorized bodies and to develop the common position on collecting the evidence base, as materials and proceeding position of Ukraine in the ICC is a common endeavor for the range of authorized bodies. The meeting resulted in the need to develop the algorithm of interstructural interaction.
