During events held as part of Ukraine Week in Washington, materials on temporarily occupied Crimea were presented. The exhibition “Crimea. Over a Decade under the Russian Occupation” focuses on the consequences of Russia’s occupation of the peninsula since 2014, which the Russian Federation has sought to conceal from the international community.
In particular, the materials highlighted systemic human rights violations, persecution on religious grounds, repression against residents of temporarily occupied Crimea, the fabrication of criminal cases, and politically motivated prosecutions. A separate section was dedicated to the forcible transfer and deportation of Ukrainian children.
The materials also covered resistance movements of Ukrainian citizens opposing the Russian occupation of Crimea. Special attention was paid to the destruction of cultural heritage, including the threat to the Bakhchysarai Khan’s Palace caused by the so-called reconstruction carried out by the occupation administration.
Ukraine Week is a platform for dialogue, advocacy, and partnership between Ukraine and the United States, launched in 2022. The events were organized by the American Ukrainian Christian Alliance with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA.
