On 22 November 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine Mr. Davide La Cecilia.
During the meeting, Borys Babin thanked for the support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and for the updated draft resolution on the situation of human rights in Crimea, approved by the Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
The Permanent Representative and the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy discussed the issues concerning the visits by the Italian citizens to the temporarily occupied Crimea and numerous events held by the state-aggressor for the attempt of the Crimea annexation to be “recognized” by the foreign countries and international organizations. Besides, they discussed a large number of violations of the rules of international law by the country – occupier and the issues of the efficient implementation of the sanction policy as well. There was also expressed the need to obtain the international technical assistance for the requirements of the Crimean residents. A special attention was paid to the obligatory payments to IDPs from Crimea, particularly the pensions and the realization of Crimean residents’ rights to vote at forthcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
