On March 24th, 2017 in the city of Kherson the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Natalia Popovych met with the First Secretary of the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine Mr. David Emtestam.
The parties discussed a situation on the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
First of all, they focused on the issues related to the systematic violation of human rights in Crimea, in particular, forced imposition of the Russian nationality, and the actions of occupation authorities, leading to a final collapse of the basic principles of democracy.
Besides, during this meeting the parties discussed an issue of protection of rights of the internally displaced persons.
Nataliia Popoych said that Representative Office is continuously monitoring the observance of rights and freedoms of citizens, who left the temporarily occupied territory and settled on the mainland Ukraine and informed David Emtestam of approved draft bills aimed at increasing the protection of rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons.
The Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea emphasized the role of Sweden in strong support of a sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine and thanked the Swedish side for its assistance and support to Ukraine, which is evidence of a genuine partnership.
