On 5 September 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin and the Chief Consultant of the Department of International Connections Valeria Pahomova met with the Representative of UN HCR in Ukraine Pablo Mateu and the officials of the Agency.
Borys Babin emphasized the current drafting activity of the Mission, particularly on recording of death, free second legal assistance, provided to the citizens of Ukraine, residing in Crimea, access of the Crimean residents to justice etc. The discussion concerned to the draft law № 8400 on simplifying the procedure of marriage registration for the citizens of the occupied territories, submitted by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Family, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism.
The attention was paid to the equipment of the Administrative Service Centers in the regions, adjacent to the temporarily occupied territory, to the provision of the Crimean displaced persons with housing, exercising of Human Rights while their crossing the checkpoints, educational and transport services for the Crimean residents in the mainland of Ukraine. Also the ecological situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea and neighboring territories as well as the difficult social situation, caused by the emissions of the plant “Crimean Titan” were discussed.
As the results of the meeting the sides agreed the framework of further cooperation and other joint events regarding the protection of IDPs’ rights and freedoms and citizens of Ukraine, residing in Crimea.
