On 3 October 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin met with the Polish journalists delegation of the leading print media and radio such as the “New Eastern Europe” (“Nowa Europa Wschodnia”), “Polska the Times”, TV Channel TVN 24, “Polish television” (“Telewizja Polska), Polish radio-informational radio agency (“Polska Radio-Informacyjna Agencja Radiowa”), Polish Press Agency and others.

Borys Babin informed the Polish journalists about the current activity of the Mission and condemned the Parliament and the Government of the Republic of Poland for the support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and non-recognition of the attempt to annex the Crimean peninsula.

In the cause of the discussion the Permanent Representative told about the effort of the Russian occupying authorities to establish the fictitious “national cultural autonomies” of Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Bulgarians, Estonians, Georgians, Germans, Greeks, Jews and others which had become as a tool for russification of those national minorities of Ukraine, as the means of exerting pressure on ethnic-kin European states and as the mechanism of desinformation of the international organizations on the events in Crimea.

Boris Babin pointed out the need to protect and exercise the rights of ethnic Ukrainians in Crimea, of the Crimean Tatars as the indigenous people and of the national minorities in the context of the temporarily occupied peninsula. He stressed on the massive fundamental rights violations by the occupying authorities, which are guaranteed by the rules of the international law. In particular the right to liberty and security of the person, rights to a fair trial, education and belief.

He emphasized for the need for the effective measures, aimed at the cessation of the activity of Russian air companies by illegal usage the closed airspace over the Crimean peninsula and international airport “Simferopol” to be implemented as well as the illicit navigation in the marine areas around Crimea and illegal usage of the seaports of Ukraine by the occupying authorities in the peninsula.

The Permanent Representative noted about the regular violations of the rules of the international law on trade navigation in the Azov Sea, in particular concerning the baseless stopping and “inspections” of the vessels flying the flags of foreign states by the Border Guard of FSS during their passage the Kerch Straight in the direction of  the ports of Berdyansk and Mariupol. Borys Babin told about the complicated ecologic situation in Crimea and added on the illegal activities of the occupying authorities in the nuclear and transports spheres.
