On 1 November 2018 the Head of the Department of International Connections of the Mission Yevhen Samukha and the Chief Consultant Valeria Pakhomova participated in the regular meeting of the Coordinating Council on the Development of Legislative Proposals for the Implementation of the Transitional Justice, held in the Office of Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the conception of transitional justice, outlined in the draft law “On the Human Rights` State Policy Overcoming the Consequences of the Armed Conflict”, including the amendments to its Part 1, proposed by the members of the Coordinating Council and the experts.
The officials of the Mission made some comments on the draft law, developed at the previous meetings, which were discussed and took into consideration by the members, in particular it concerned the mandate of the authorized civil society associations in the post – conflict situations.
The members of the Coordinating Council have decided the duty for securing the political and cultural rights of Indigenous Crimean Tatar People and other ethnic communities, suffering from Russian aggression to be set forth in the articles of the draft law. Now, the drafting process is ongoing.
