On 12 October the First Deputy of the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Izet Gdanov and the Chief Consultant of the Department of International Connections of the Mission Valeria Pakhomova took part in the Public Platform meeting on issues of political prisoners liberation, headed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.
The participants of the meeting were the First Deputy Head of thee Parliament Iryna Gerashchenko, Deputy Head of Medjlis of Crimean Tatar People Ahtem Cheigoz, officials of line-ministries and institutions, a special representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairsof Ukraine on release of the political prisoners Yuriy Yatsenko, representatives of non- governmental associations and human rights defenders.
During the meeting, the coordination of common efforts discussed in order to speed up a social payments for the families of Ukrainian political prisoners of Kremlin. The above-mentioned families are supposed to get money in November.
Providing for additions to the Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 1058 was highlighted, particularly to the rights to recover compensation for medical and social aid expenditures of Ukrainians, imprisoned in Russia or those, who are persecuted there on political grounds.
The mechanisms for providing access to the political prisoners of Kremlin for medical examination to be done were discussed.In addition, the issues of legislative regulation of the political prisoners’ status, adoption of the Law and establishment of the Coordination Council under the President of Ukraine on issues of political prisoners were highlighted.
Izet Gdanov informed about the current activity of the Mission on issuance of ID carrydocuments to the members of the families of political prisoners from Crimea, providing the statistical information. The Permanent Representative officially demanded the representative of the Ministry of temporarily occupied territories and IDP’s of Ukraine to carry an order of the Minister of Regional Development, Building and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Zubko Hennadii on including the authority of the Mission to the Commission on issues to provide the assistance to the individuals, deprived of personal liberty due to the activity of illegal armed forces, occupying administration, and/or the RF authorities in the occupied territories of Donetsk, Lugansk and temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine in Crimea as well as to the members of their families.
As well as including the authority of the Mission to the Inter- ministerial Commission on consolidation of the legal policy of Ukraine in the issue of response and prevention of the RF armed aggression and preparation of consolidated claim of Ukraine against Russia on implementation its accountability for armed aggression within the international law.
The participants agreed the framework for further interaction.
