On July 12, the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych took part in a round table, organized by the Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories in Donetsk, Luhansk Regions and Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations on the topic “Parliamentary control over the implementation of the Law of Ukraine On the Legal Status of Missing Persons”.
During the round table the reports of public authorities, international and national public organizations were heard. An expert discussion of the problems of implementation of this Law was also held.
Anton Korynevych in his speech stressed the need for changes to this Law and other normative legal acts that regulate legal relations regarding the legal status of persons, missing persons, in order to increase the effectiveness of State Policy in the field of protection of human rights, missing persons in connection with armed conflict, persons gone missing under special circumstances, their relatives, as well as the registration and tracing of such persons.
The Mission supports the need to improve the legal regulation of public relations related to the acquisition of legal status of persons gone missing under special circumstances, in the conditions of armed conflict, temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine and in connection with other events that could lead to mass deaths.
