On 15 November 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin together with the officials of the Department of International Connections of the Mission attended the international conference “Payment of Pensions to IDPs in Ukraine: How to Exercise the Constitutional Right to Pension?”
The participants of the conference were Judith Gough, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Ukraine, Fiona Frazer, representative of the UN Human Rights Mission to Ukraine, Noel Kalgun, representative of UNHCR office, Mykola Shambyr, Deputy Minister of social policy of Ukraine, Iryna Kovpashko, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Pension Fund of Ukraine, Valeria Versynina, project manager Advisor on IDPs” ( “Stabilization Support Services”), Volodymyr Yatsenko, the expert of the USAID Project “Transformation of Financial Sector”, Georgiy Tuka, Deputy Minister of TOT and IDPs, Sergiy Kaplin, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, the First Deputy Head of the Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pension Provision, representatives non-governmental associations, public authorities, regional state administrations, international organizations, foreign experts and the press.
During the conference, the provision of IDPs and protection of their rights in Ukraine as well as the exercising of their rights to pension specifically were reviewed. The conference discussed the level of protection of the IDPs’ constitutional rights from the Ukrainian and international perspective. Besides, the civil society representatives shared their opinions how to overcome the gaps in protection of the IDPs’ rights in Ukraine.
