Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko met with Ms. Berris Ekinci, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Türkiye Naryman Dzhelialov, as well as representatives of the Embassy.
The Permanent Representative expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s consistent support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and its policy of non-recognition of the attempted illegal annexation of Crimea, as well as for Türkiye’s participation in the Crimea Platform summits at various levels.
Olha Kuryshko briefed the Turkish side on the situation in the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula, including political persecution, the intensification of repression, and the systematic persecution of the Crimean Tatar people. Particular attention was paid to the aggressor state’s policy of destroying cultural heritage sites and to the environmental consequences for Crimea resulting from large-scale militarization of both the peninsula itself and the Black Sea waters. The parties also discussed the Russian Federation’s so-called shadow fleet and the threats it poses to all countries of the Azov–Black Sea region.
In conclusion, Olha Kuryshko emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between Ukraine and Türkiye to pursue diplomatic pathways toward a just peace and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, including Crimea.
