President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his address at the opening of the Fifth Crimea Platform Summit, urged world leaders not to allow the normalization of Russia’s actions and emphasized that occupation, repressions, and crimes committed by Russia must not be treated as routine facts of international life.
“Civilians in occupied territories experience repression for speaking the truth, for striving for freedom, and for preserving their identity. Yet the world must not treat occupation and repression as routine facts of international life. We are fighting for international law and for basic human justice,” President Zelenskyy said.
He emphasized Ukraine’s message: do not allow the normalization of Russia’s aggression. Humanity must not accept a world in which illegal occupation is treated as normal.
This year, the Crimea Platform Summit is held in the framework of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, in the year of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
