On 7 August 2018 in Kyiv office the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Boris Babin held a meeting on protection of the rights of national minorities and their representatives traditionally residing in Crimea.
The meeting was scheduled under the Plan of urgent measures on counteraction of Russian’s aggression from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine in Crimea, defense of the state’s interests, citizens of Ukraine and Ukrainian legal persons in Crimea for the period of 2018-2019. The meeting brought together the representatives of MFA of Ukraine, Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Ministry of culture of Ukraine and other central authorities.
Borys Babin highlighted the importance to monitor the ethnic and cultural life of the representatives of national minorities traditionally residing in Crimea, particularly to develop the platform for engaging the representatives of national minorities in cultural events in mainland Ukraine.
The attempts of Russian occupying authorities to found the fictitious “national and cultural autonomies” of Azerbaijani, Bulgarian, Armenian, Georgians, Greeks, Estonians, Jews, German in Crimea in order to use them as tool for “russification” of the above-mentioned and other national minorities of Ukraine and a mean of pressure asserted on ethnic kin states by spreading disinformation among the international organizations about the situation in Crimea.
The development of algorithm of visits the regions, adjacent to Crimea by the governmental authorities, civic associations and experts of ethnic kin states was highlighted in order to provide them with the trustworthy information about the ethic life of the relevant community in Crimea.
