On 17 October 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin gave a public lecture “On violations of International Air Law in the Temporarily Occupied Crimea” for the students of the Academic and Research Institute of International Relations of the National Aviation University. The Permanent Representative told on the mandate and the current activity of the Mission, reviewed the existing situation in the peninsula, pointing out the applicable laws, regulations and international instruments for air operations.

Borys Babin assessed the activity of the occupying authorities through civil aviation in Crimea and discussed with the students the efficient ways to stop the illegal activity of Russian air companies, carried out illicit air transportation to Crimea. He highlighted the mechanism of sanctions implementation against the violation of International Air Law by Russia.

The Permanent Representative made the examples of prosecution for violation of national and international legal norms, highligghted the blocking of Russian tanker “Mechanic Pogodin”, explained the application of the rules of the Law off Ukraine “On Sanctions”. Particular attention was drawn to the staff trainian and educational matters for civil aviation.
