On February, 26 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin together with the officials of the Mission took part in the Rally of Solidarity with the Crimean Tatar People, Ukrainians and the people of other nationalities residing in the temporarily occupied Crimea, with those who remain aware of their dignity and faithful to Ukraine.
Among the participants of the meeting were the Head and his Deputies of Medjlis of Crimean Tatar People, People’s Deputies and public activists. The members of the event commemorated the death of the compatriots killed by the Russian occupiers, honored the violently stolen citizens of Ukraine and political detainers imprisoned by the occupier. During the Rally the video footage of the evens occurred on the 26th of February 2014 was shown. As it is known on the 26th of February four years ago near 15 thousand of Crimean Tatars, ethnic Ukrainians and residents of Crimea responded to the Medjlis’ of Crimean Tatar People call gathered near the building of Verkhovna Rada of ARC and prevented the attempt to adopt of the Resolution about the separation Crimea from Ukraine.

On 26th of February 2014 the civil society of Crimea in a peaceful and legislative ways defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine preventing Russia and its agents to hold a special session in order to simulate so-called voluntary joining Crimea to Russia. That’s why the day of 26th of February has become the Day of Crimean Resistance. Unfortunately massive non-violent resistance of the citizens of Crimea could not prevent the temporarily occupation of Crimea that lasted for four years. The Crimean Tatar People – the Indigenous People of Crimea, ethnic Ukrainians and all other residents of the peninsula are being held hostage by Russia’s occupiers. They preserve their dignity waiting for us to help them, they believe in Ukraine and they look forward for the early restoration of the territorial integrity in its internationally recognized borders.
