Suleiman Dzhemilev was born in 1957 in the Ural region to a family of deported Crimean Tatars. Only in 1992 did he return to Crimea together with his family. For many years, he worked as a leading physician at the Crimean Oncology Dispensary and was awarded the title of Honored Doctor. Since 2015, he had been working as an oncologist at the National Cancer Institute in Kyiv. He is survived by his daughter, Zekiye, and his son, Rustem, who is defending Ukraine in the Defense Forces.
The Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea shares this immeasurable grief and expresses its sincere condolences to the family of Suleiman Dzhemilev.
He remained an embodiment of professional integrity and, following the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula, did not betray either his principles or Crimea.
Allah rahmet eylesin.
