The First Deputy of the Permanent Representative Izet Hdanov took part in the meeting in the city of Kyiv with the Delegate for Crimean Tatar People’s Affairs, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Heads of Law-Enforcement Authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The participants of the meeting discussed mechanisms and approaches to gathering information on human rights violations in the occupied Crimea.
The First Deputy reported on the activities undertaken by the Representative Office within its powers, on the current implementation of analytical and coordination functions in the field of protection of rights of the inhabitants of the temporary occupied territories of Ukraine in Crimea, on the corresponding cooperation in responding to some facts of illegal deprivation of freedom and torture by the law enforcement bodies of the occupation authorities.
A special emphasis was put on the immediate need of transferring the subdivisions of the Central Administration of the National Police in the Autonomous Republic Crimea and the city of Sevastopol in the regions close to the temporary occupied territories to establish effective work with citizens who have been harassed by the occupation authorities. The participants of the meeting were informed about the agreement between the National Police and the competent authorities, and on the assistance of the Representative Office in solving the issues of transferring of subdivisions of the Central Administration to the city of Kherson.
