On 12 November 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin, his First Deputy Izet Gdanov and the Сhief Сonsultants of the Mission Bahshysh Kerimov and Ruslan Seidametov attended the Conference of delegates of VI Qurultay of Crimean Tatar People, held in Kyiv. Among the issues to be observed by the delegates of the Conference were the political situation in the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea, the proposals to continue exercising the Qurultay delegates’ functions and implementation of the decision taken at the Qurultay special session on 29 March 2014.
At the conference, the Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov have read the Address of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to the Crimean Tatar People. In his Address, the President of Ukraine notes that the work of the Working Group on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine was completed and Constitutional Commission will review the draft as soon as possible. “I am expecting that Constitutional Commission will review the draft shortly with the proposals to be draw up for my consideration and subsequent submission to Parliament. We all know that the discussion will not be easy but it is necessary for Ukraine to revise the Constitution regarding the Crimean Tatar People”, Petro Poroshenko said in his Address.
The Head of the State noted that the right of Crimean Tatar People to Self-determination must be established within the Ukrainian State by identifying of a special status of Crimean Tatar national and territorial autonomy as an integral part of Ukraine. Petro Poroshenko in his Address said that soon the Third Committee of UN General Assembly would review a new draft Resolution on Human Rights violations in Crimea, occupied by the Russian Federation.
