In April, 18 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the ARC Borys Babin, the First Deputy of the Permanent Representative Izet Gdanov and the officials of the Departments of the International Connections and Legal Analysis of the Mission participated in the Hearings of the Ukrainian Parliament Human Rights Committee: “The Implementation of the National Human Rights Strategy of IDPs and the Persons Residing in the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Release of Hostages and Restoration of their Rights”.The participants of the meeting were the People’s Deputies, including the Ukrainian Parliament Human Rights Committee members, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Deputy Ministers, the representatives of the Lugansk and Donetsk Regional State Administrations, of the scientific institutions, international and non- governmental organizations. During the meeting it was analyzed the improper implementation of the National Human Rights Strategy of IDPs and the persons living in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.Discussion was also held on certain aspects of educational, electoral, social, economic rights of IDPs, on coherent amendments to existing legislation and adoption of the Laws to regulate the IDPs’ rights (regarding registered drafts № 6240 and № 6690) Specific attention was paid to the provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On Free Economic Zone of Crimea and Features of Economic Activity Implementation in the TOT of Ukraine”The Permanent Representative in his statement referred to the existing problems in ensuring the educational, medical, social and economic rights of IDPs from Crimea and to the pointed out the ways to overcome them. It was informed about the activity done by the Mission in issuing the passports to the citizens of Ukraine from Crimea, the detainers’ relatives, establishment and equipment of the administrative service centers in the districts adjacent to Crimea, the establishment of the railway link to the station “Vadim” and legalization automobile transportation to/from the check points. It was focused on the need for the check points to be minimum equipped and verification of IDPs to be done to provide housing. The committee resulted by the recommendations will be prepared.
