“The draft law2689 introduces the important changes to the Criminal Code of Ukraine by implementing so important international standards to it, including rules on grave international crimes: crime of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, crime of aggression. It’s very important that the draft law 2698 incorporates the proper catalogue of war crimes and finally the article on crimes against humanity. The draft law provides the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Prosecutor’s Office in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea with the proper instruments on persecution of physical persons, committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in the temporarily occupied territories of the AR of Crimea, city of Sevastopol, some districts of Donets and Luhansk regions”, the Permanent Representative Anton Korynevych said commenting on the importance of adopting the draft law 2689.
The Permanent Representative Anton Korynevych is a member of expert’s group on development of the draft law “About the amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine on implementation of the international criminal and humanitarian law”.
The draft law 2689 is an output of interagency cooperation of the People’s Deputies of Ukraine, law enforcement agencies, human rights non-governmental organizations, experts of international and national law.
