On 16 April, the results of the international conference Crimea Global over its three years of existence were presented at the Mission. During the event, participants also discussed plans for this year’s Crimea Global conference, which is intended to strengthen Ukraine’s dialogue with countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as well as national and international partners, joined the meeting in both online and offline formats.
In her speech, Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko emphasised the extreme importance of Crimea Global as a platform for garnering global support for Ukraine and for maintaining focus on the challenges caused by the prolonged temporary occupation of Crimea.

“The Mission / Crimea Platform Office initiated the first Crimea Global conference in 2023 as a response to the lack of attention and to build support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity from countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Currently, it is the only large-scale conference in Ukraine that provides a unique discussion platform for representatives of the civil and expert sectors from Africa, Asia, and Latin America to discuss global challenges,” she emphasised.
Nelia Hrynyshyn, Head of the Crimea Platform Department, stated that Crimea Global is crucial for promoting the issue of Crimea’s de-occupation on the global stage, as well as for discussing other important problems related to the Russian war in Ukraine: food security, justice, the fight against colonialism, and women’s resistance in the context of armed conflicts.
Mariia Tomak, human rights defender and founder of Crimea Global, presented her research on the outcomes and key conclusions after three years of holding Crimea Global.
“At the conference, we try to discuss very specific topics that are important both for Ukraine and for other countries: starting from more general ones — such as women’s rights or violence against women during armed conflicts — and moving to more specific ones, for example, how Russia recruits foreign fighters from the countries of the Global South,” she highlighted.
Stanislav Miroshnychenko, Executive Director of the Media Initiative for Human Rights (MIHR), presented the quantitative indicators for each conference and discussed some of the publications by Crimea Global speakers in the media. In total, over three years, 48 speakers from Asia, Africa, and Latin America came to Ukraine as part of Crimea Global, not counting the numerous foreign speakers who joined the conference online or participated in press tours organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Tetiana Pechonchyk, Head of the Board of the Human Rights Center ZMINA, presented the concept of Crimea Global for 2026. According to her, in a geopolitical climate increasingly dominated by force rather than international law, it is important to talk about human rights and their protection.
Crimea Global is an international conference that was launched in 2023. Since then, it has been held annually by the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea / Crimea Platform Office, together with non-governmental organisations — the Human Rights Center ZMINA and the Media Initiative for Human Rights.
Crimea Global allows international experts, journalists, and opinion leaders to become more deeply acquainted with the Ukrainian context, focusing on the realities of wartime and the challenges of the prolonged temporary occupation of Crimea, and engaging them in discussions of mutually important topics.
