On March 6, Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko attended an Iftar organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.
The Iftar is an initiative of the President of Ukraine, supported for the second time by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is the evening meal Muslims eat at sunset to end their daily fast during the holy month of Ramadan. Each year, the event brings together representatives of state bodies, the diplomatic corps, members of parliament, and cultural and public figures.
This year, the event was attended by the head of the Ministry, Andrii Sybiha, and his deputy, Mariana Betsa; Ukrainian military personnel; Refat Chubarov, Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People; Mustafa Dzhemilev, leader of the Crimean Tatar people; Murat Suleimanov, Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “UMMA”; Aider Rustemov, Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the AR of Crimea, and others.

In his speech, Andrii Sybiha thanked the soldiers defending Ukraine and stressed that Russia’s war began with Crimea and must end with its liberation.
“We also remember those who remain in the temporarily occupied territories and continue to resist. We work every day to ensure that all our people who are illegally detained by Russia are released and return home to their families.”
